Good Friday Trip: Canton Action

A couple fellow goons and I either had Good Friday off, or took it off.  The occasion? A good spring day to go railfanning in Baltimore.

Our first good catch was at at Boston St in the Canton part of Baltimore. Boston St crosses one of the main lines to the eastern part of the Port of Baltimore. This line serves the joint NS, CSX and Canton Penn Mary yard and large Consol Coal terminal served by both of the city’s class 1s.

These photos start at Boston St, then move around the corner to catch the Canton switch job working the pocket sized ethanol terminal, and then finally, the very visible Lehigh Cement pier. That last one was really interesting because of the way the tracks snake around a structure, and almost cut through the parking lot of the Maryland Port Authority Police. Oddly enough, despite driving by us a number of times, they never even looked our way.
