What is happening on the East Broad Top is nothing short of a miracle. I wanted to take my dad to see it in person, and the first weekend with steam was the perfect opportunity. It didn’t disappoint.

A Bunch of Recent Photos that Railpictures Didn’t or Wouldn’t Like
Like many Railfans, I’m locked in constant battle with the Railpictures.net screeners. While I’ve had decent luck sneaking some stuff past the goalie lately, here are some of my recent rejects that I still like.
2005 Railwire Trip to Horseshoe Curve
Back in 2005 my friends on TheRailwire.net forum decided to meet up at Horseshoe Curve. These are a few photos from that surprisingly long ago trip.
Photos of Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem During Demolition in 2007
Back in 2007 my friend Sean said “Hey, want to go shoot Bethlehem Steel before they knock it all down?”. I said yes.
Some of my favorites
Some recent posting on the TrainPorn subreddit reminded me that I’ve taken a LOT of photos over the years. Some of them are good.
Lunchtime Surprise on the Canton
“Hey man, what are you doing?” You gotta love it when you get a text from a friend like that. Turns out my friend Doug was in town for work and had some time to kill so we got pit beef and he got a quick tour of Baltimore.
Chasing the Wilmington & Western on Halloween 2020
What’s better than doing some trick or treating with a steam engine? Getting to go do it with a friend! 2020 has seen a real deficit of social railfanning. Luckily, the W&W is in my friend Dave’s back yard and he was just getting off of work when the chase was on.
My last Conrail Sighting: December 27, 2011
I last saw a Conrail unit “in the wild” not quite ten years ago in 2011. Fittingly enough, it was in the place I remember visiting when I was a kid and that was instrumental in instilling my love of Conrail in me: Pavonia Yard in Camden NJ.
Quarantine Retrospective: 2009
Since we shouldn’t be going out I’ve been going through some photos from my photo library that I took over ten years ago. Here are a few.
Escaping Quarantine to Catch Y134 at Locust Point
We live in weird times. Covid-19 has changed many things in our lives. The name of the game currently is “social distancing”, keeping your contact with people to an absolute minimum. That means, generally, staying the f**k home. However, it was a beautiful day, I just got new tires, and I needed to get some fresh air.
