This spring brought a second trip to the Lehigh Valley. This time was focused on chasing the Cement Local and meeting a legend. Lunch with “Big Mike” Bednar was clearly the high point, but as far as this blog goes, there were no real photos of that.

CSX in Locust Point at Night, May 2017
I was driving home from my friend Josh’s place and needed to get some gas. There’s one way I could’ve gone where I didn’t drive by the tracks, and there’s one way I could’ve gone where I did. You can guess which way I went.
April 2017 Trip to The Lehigh Valley
Watching John Pechulis Media’s Big Mike videos kindled an interest in the Lehigh Valley. Luckily, my friend Rudy is a bit of a subject matter expert, and Good Friday 2017 provided Ben and I the perfect opportunity to go explore (and eat our way through) the area.
The Conrail Heritage Unit at CP Altoona August 2016
August of 2016 found me in Altoona for the N Scale Weekend. It was a fun event that also happened to coincide with a visit from the NS 8098, better known as the Conrail Heritage Unit.
Took a break from working on The CRHS Archives for the MGA Heritage Unit
We had our first organized work session on The CRHS’s archives back in August. Luckily, the NS Pittsburgh Line is right next to the facility where we were working, so we could take a quick break when the Monongahela Heritage Unit showed up.
Pittsburgh, May 2016
It’s been a long time since I was last in Pittsburgh, and even longer since I last did train stuff there. My friend Ben, a Pittsburgh ex-patriot, setup a trip to show some of us around the town he loves.
CSX Coal at Curtis Bay
I had a few hours to get out and about today, so, while on my way to go work on some modeling projects with a fried, I swung by CSX’s Curtis Bay yard. I got lucky, catching a coal train just arriving on the scene as I got there.
April 2015 Philly Trip
I grew up, and learned how to railfan in Philadelphia. Every once in a while I get a chance to go back and checkout my old haunts. This spring, I got a chance to do that with some friends and show them around the city that was so formative.
Amtrak’s Busiest Day 2014
I tried something different this year: going up to Delaware for Amtrak’s busiest day. Ironically, it resulted in more freight action but missing the special Amtrak moves.
The West Side of Baltimore: November 2014
My friend Chris and I took the opportunity of a nice November day for me to show him around the parts of the West Side of Baltimore he hadn’t seen yet.
