I last saw a Conrail unit “in the wild” not quite ten years ago in 2011. Fittingly enough, it was in the place I remember visiting when I was a kid and that was instrumental in instilling my love of Conrail in me: Pavonia Yard in Camden NJ.
GP40-2
CSX in Hagerstown, February of 2019
It’s been a slow few months railfanning wise, but I recently got a chance to get out and grab some CSX action around a snowy Hagerstown.
Railfanning Around The 2017 N Scale Enthusiast Convention in Pittsburgh
The 2017 N Scale Enthusiast convention was held at the Station Square Sheraton in Pittsburgh, providing a great base of operations for some railfanning around the convention activities. In addition to rail photos, I also took a few of the city.
More Baltimore Railfanning in the Evening
Locust Point again, this time, Y202 working the CSX Trans-Flo terminal.
Pittsburgh, May 2016
It’s been a long time since I was last in Pittsburgh, and even longer since I last did train stuff there. My friend Ben, a Pittsburgh ex-patriot, setup a trip to show some of us around the town he loves.
Good Friday Railfanning 2015: The CSX Hanover Sub and NS Lurgan Line
My friends Ben, Sean and I have a yearly tradition of going out railfanning on Good Friday. This year, at Sean’s excellent suggestion, we set our sights on CSX’s Hanover Subdivision.
CSX in East Baltimore, March 2013
Bayview used to be a great place to sit and watch trains, before the Volunteer Corps of America moved in and ruined it. You could catch mainline action, and if your timing was good, be well-positioned to head off and chase something going down to Canton.
Summer 2012 Trip to Philly
Philadelphia contains a tangle of rail lines, and a ton of Railroad history. These photos come from a one day trip to show some of my Baltimore and Harrisburg friends some of the great stuff Philly has to offer. Ironically, we saw lots of things, but I don’t think we caught a single moving train all day.
