NS Pittsburgh Line: Duncannon & Lewistown, Including A Blue 80MAC May 3, 2008June 21, 2017 Ed KapuscinskiPhotos Amtrak, Duncannon, Lewistown, Norfolk Southern, NS Pittsburgh Line, P42, SD80MAC What’s more Conrail than an 80MAC on the Pittsburgh Line? How about a blue 80MAC on a coal train in Lewistown? The GEO train is parked in with the beer distributor and the future home (at that time) of Roadhawg BBQ. We were able to get up into the tower of the Lewistown station and caught a stack train heading west with a trio of GE’s newest, including a BNSF unit. While people wait to board the impending Amtrak Pennsylvanian, a pair of NS geeps show up with an MOW train. I’m always impressed by passenger engineers. They come in pretty hot but still get the train stopped on a dime. It’s impressive to watch. A bunch of folks were boarding the eastbound Amtrak Pennsylvanian in Lewistown that day. An 80MAC and its big white smile cruise east past the entrance to the yard at Lewistown.
