Philadelphia contains a tangle of rail lines, and a ton of Railroad history. These photos come from a one day trip to show some of my Baltimore and Harrisburg friends some of the great stuff Philly has to offer. Ironically, we saw lots of things, but I don’t think we caught a single moving train all day.

CSX 7850 At Bush St
Another summer evening photo at Bush St. This time, it’s C40-8W coming out of Locust Point.
A pair of CSX Photos from Bayview
A pair of photos at Bayview Yard in Baltimore during the Summer of 2012.
A Great Saturday Morning in East Baltimore
I had a few hours free on a Saturday morning and decided to get myself some breakfast from Wawa, and head on over to CSX’s Bayview Yard to see what was going on.
Standard Cab CSX Power at Bush St in the Rain
A little rain isn’t a good reason not to head out.
A Few Views of St. Denis in August of 2011
St. Denis may be the most photographed location in Baltimore. But I still go. This day, I caught some of MARC’s then-new MP36PH-3C “lady pleasers” and some CSX action.
A Pair of CSX SD40-2s on Q217
Finding a matched pair of second generation engines is worth recording, even if the weather isn’t cooperating.
A Pair of Blue SD60Is in Enola
NS has a pool of former Conrail SD60Is assigned to coal trains for PP&L’s Strawberry Ridge plant. There was a time when they weren’t all wearing NS black, and that wasn’t actually that long ago. It was incredibly lucky catching a pair of blue ones together though, so they definitely warranted pulling over for.
January 2011 CRHS BoD Meeting Weekend
The CRHS has an annual Board of Directors meeting somewhere in the Horseshoe Curve area. This weekend, while full of serious, important business, also tends to involve a bunch of Railfanning too.
