CSX in Delco, Easter 2018

I was up visiting my family just outside Philly for easter when CSX dropped by.

My parents live just outside Philadelphia in Delaware County. The CSX Philly Sub cuts through the area, and watching for lit signals or distant headlights when crossing the tracks is a well ingrained habit.

We were driving across the tracks on the way home from celebrating the holiday when that habit paid off. Out in the distance the unmistakeable blink of ditchlights was visible, and my wife, being the understanding woman she is, said “you want want wait for that, don’t you”. “Uh huh”.

A u-turn was made, and here we sat, facing right into the sun, as a relatively new ET-44 chugged toward the City of Brotherly Love with a mixed freight.
