After an excellent day chasing stuff all over Baltimore, we finished the day at Bush St, where the golden hour sun lit up a MARC train perfectly.
CSX in East Baltimore, March 2013
Bayview used to be a great place to sit and watch trains, before the Volunteer Corps of America moved in and ruined it. You could catch mainline action, and if your timing was good, be well-positioned to head off and chase something going down to Canton.
My Last Blue Leader On Video
The big excitement at the 2013 CRHS BoD meeting was the appearance of a still-blue SD50 on the head of a slab train. I decided this was a perfect thing to catch on video.
Baltimore Streetcar Museum: Dec 2012
The Baltimore Trolley Museum is a hidden gem in Baltimore. It occupies the area originally owned by the MA&PA near Penn Station, and has a great operational collection. I visited with my friend Steve in December of 2012.
Amtrak’s Busiest Day 2012
The Sunday after Thanksgiving is Amtrak’s busiest day. In order to meet the peak demand that returning holiday travelers creates Amtrak borrows equipment from various commuter agencies. This creates some incredibly rare catches. I went out to catch the action.
Summer 2012 Trip to Philly
Philadelphia contains a tangle of rail lines, and a ton of Railroad history. These photos come from a one day trip to show some of my Baltimore and Harrisburg friends some of the great stuff Philly has to offer. Ironically, we saw lots of things, but I don’t think we caught a single moving train all day.

A Great Saturday Morning in East Baltimore
I had a few hours free on a Saturday morning and decided to get myself some breakfast from Wawa, and head on over to CSX’s Bayview Yard to see what was going on.
