I had some business up in Harrisburg which involved giving my dad a quick tour of the area. Of course we had to swing by The Iron Bridge.

April 2018 Lehigh Valley Branchlines
This spring brought a second trip to the Lehigh Valley. This time was focused on chasing the Cement Local and meeting a legend. Lunch with “Big Mike” Bednar was clearly the high point, but as far as this blog goes, there were no real photos of that.
CSX in Delco, Easter 2018
I was up visiting my family just outside Philly for easter when CSX dropped by.
“Spring” 2018 Trip to Strasburg, The Lehigh Valley, and the Reading & Northern
This year’s big spring railfanning trip included a ride on the Lancaster Oxford & Southern motor car, a tour of the Lehigh Valley and some time at the heart of the R&N.
A Sunday on the Strasburg, July 2017
The Strasburg Rail Road is a national treasure, and every once in a while I must go there to “center myself”. Maybe it’s because I went a lot when I was a kid, but it’s always loomed large in my mind of what a railroad is and should be. I recently made a pilgrimage, and while my photographic and video output wasn’t as amazing as I’d have wanted, I like to think it’s worth checking out.
CSX Working Amports in Curtis Bay, July 2017
I love the ability to do incidental railfanning that having a cell phone with a quality camera provides. In this case, I was headed to my friend Eric’s place to do some modeling, and spotted CSX spotting some autoracks at the port. Perfect!
Railfanning Around The 2017 N Scale Enthusiast Convention in Pittsburgh
The 2017 N Scale Enthusiast convention was held at the Station Square Sheraton in Pittsburgh, providing a great base of operations for some railfanning around the convention activities. In addition to rail photos, I also took a few of the city.
NS on the Middle Division, June 2017
Summer sucks. It’s too hot to railfan. But are we smart enough to not? Absolutely not. So, on the hottest day of the year so far, we set out for an afternoon on the NS Pittsburgh Line, and I shot some stills and video.
More Baltimore Railfanning in the Evening
Locust Point again, this time, Y202 working the CSX Trans-Flo terminal.
Railfanning Martin State Airport, May 2017
I’ve been doing a weekly railroad night with some of my friends since I started my current job where I work from home. Usually my group of friends go to someone’s house and works on modeling projects, but sometimes we head out railfanning. With the weather turning nice, I think that’s going to happen more often.
