My friend Ben, who I’ve mentioned a number of times here is a Pittsburgh boy. Consequently, when contemplating railfanning trip destinations, the Steel City frequently comes up. When planning a trip for the fall of 2016, he wanted to show off more of the city he loves, and especially the Conemaugh Line he’s planning to model.

A Few Minutes In Lancaster, January 2017
I had word that one of my favorite hobby shops was closing up, so I met my dad for one last stop before they were gone. While in town, we stopped by NS’s Dillerville Yard and the Amtrak Lancaster Station.
Shortline scenes around York PA, October 2016
I was in York the day before a larger railfanning trip and got a chance to see some of the local sights.
A Rainy Day in Hollidaysburg
Staying at the charmingly classic Wye Motor Lodge during The N Scale weekend afforded the opportunity to catch the NS Cove Secondary Local at work.
The Conrail Heritage Unit at CP Altoona August 2016
August of 2016 found me in Altoona for the N Scale Weekend. It was a fun event that also happened to coincide with a visit from the NS 8098, better known as the Conrail Heritage Unit.
Took a break from working on The CRHS Archives for the MGA Heritage Unit
We had our first organized work session on The CRHS’s archives back in August. Luckily, the NS Pittsburgh Line is right next to the facility where we were working, so we could take a quick break when the Monongahela Heritage Unit showed up.
Pittsburgh, May 2016
It’s been a long time since I was last in Pittsburgh, and even longer since I last did train stuff there. My friend Ben, a Pittsburgh ex-patriot, setup a trip to show some of us around the town he loves.
Post 2016 Blizzard NS and “NS” Action

To catch NS action in this CSX town. Through a friend, I learned that NS’s 34A, the daily manifest to Baltimore was running behind schedule and would be running the NEC in daylight. He also clued me into some NS power on a westbound CSX K train that was also coming our way. First we went to MARC’s Martin State station, which I forgot […]
Chasing NS H25 Out of York
I was incredibly excited to catch NS’s “Yorkie” job heading north out of York on the former NCR (that I chronicle modeling over on my other site), and put together a video of the chase.
The 2015 N Scale Weekend Trip To Cumberland
The Bedford (now Altoona) N Scale Weekend is a great event. The show itself has always been interesting, but it also serves as a good excuse to get out to a fun part of the world and do some railfanning. I did that exact thing this with my friends Ben, Lee and Josh.
